Building the Future of Aviation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
MIG Airlines is a Congolese aviation platform in development — designed to reconnect the DRC, serve Central Africa, and stand alongside the world's leading carriers.
MIG Airlines is a Congolese aviation platform in development — combining live pre-launch commercial services today with a disciplined, phased plan to become a full-scale national airline. This page introduces our story, values, milestones and ambitions, and how we are building an institutional-grade aviation platform for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
A Congolese aviation platform, built for the long term.
MIG Airlines is a private-sector aviation initiative developed under the Mbombo Investment Group, headquartered in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, with head office at 343 Preston Street, 11th Floor, Room 1156, Ottawa, ON K1S 1N4, Canada. The company is in development and is preparing for scheduled commercial operations subject to certification, financing and regulatory approvals.
We were founded on a simple observation: the DRC — with over 100 million people, extraordinary geography, and one of Africa's most strategic locations — deserves a modern, safety-first national aviation platform. MIG Airlines is being built to serve that need with the discipline, transparency and long-term horizon of an institutional-grade operator.
To build a modern, Congolese-owned aviation platform that connects the DRC to Africa and the world — safely, reliably, and sustainably — while generating long-term value for shareholders, employees, partners and the communities we serve.
Institutional governance, disciplined capital allocation, safety and compliance above all, and unwavering long-term commitment to Congolese aviation.
Six commitments that shape every decision
From safety to governance, our values define how we build, hire, invest and operate.
Safety First
Uncompromising commitment to international safety standards, SMS, and independent oversight.
Reliability
Operational discipline, on-time performance, and predictable service our customers can plan around.
Accessibility
Aviation that connects Congolese cities and communities — not just capitals and hubs.
Innovation
Digital-native distribution, modern fleet, and technology that raises the bar for African aviation.
Long-Term Impact
Talent development, local supply chain participation and infrastructure that outlasts any single project.
Institutional Governance
Transparency, disciplined capital allocation, and reporting that meets international investor expectations.
A country built for aviation
A modern aviation platform is not a luxury for the DRC — it is foundational infrastructure for the country's next chapter.
The DRC — Africa's second-largest country by area — depends on aviation to link cities separated by rainforest, rivers and limited roads.
Mining, agriculture, healthcare and manufacturing all need reliable air links to move goods, people and expertise.
UN agencies, NGOs and health responders need dependable aviation partners in one of the world's most operationally complex geographies.
Congolese natural and cultural heritage — from Virunga to the Congo River — is world-class and under-served by air access.
Regional and international business travellers require modern, safe, digitally distributed connectivity into and out of the DRC.
A modern national aviation platform strengthens sovereignty, employment, skills development and regional integration.

Eight reasons this platform matters
An investment thesis grounded in geography, demography, and disciplined execution.
Strategic Central African location
The DRC borders nine countries and sits at the crossroads of Africa's east, west and south.
Large underserved domestic market
Over 100 million people across the second-largest country in Africa — with limited domestic connectivity today.
Growing cargo demand
E-commerce, healthcare, humanitarian and industrial freight all need reliable air lift.
Mining & natural resources logistics
Copper, cobalt and critical-minerals corridors demand specialized aviation logistics.
AfCFTA regional trade tailwind
The African Continental Free Trade Area unlocks cross-border commerce that aviation can capture.
Government & PPP opportunities
Public-sector aviation, humanitarian and infrastructure programs open partnership pathways.
Scalable business model
Asset-light launch scaling into a full-service airline as capital, fleet and approvals mature.
Revenue before commercial flights
Seven live pre-launch commercial lines already generating cash flow today.
A structurally under-served aviation market
Where the demand signals come from — and how we distinguish sourced facts from company plans.
Vast geography, rainforest and limited roads make aviation the practical way to connect Congolese cities.
Sub-Saharan Africa continues to grow faster than most global regions — a structural tailwind for aviation.
Mining, healthcare, e-commerce and humanitarian freight all need reliable air lift.
Regional business travellers require modern, safe, digitally distributed connectivity.
UN, NGO and health responders need dependable partners in a complex operating geography.
World-class natural and cultural heritage — from Virunga to the Congo River — remains under-served by air.
Population, area and geographic references are drawn from public sources. Demand statements labelled "company plan" describe MIG Airlines' internal assessment and are not guarantees of market outcomes.
How MIG Airlines is built differently
Eight structural choices that shape the platform we are building.
Native digital distribution, direct customer relationships, and a modern technology stack from day one.
Operating leases and partnerships reduce upfront capital and accelerate time-to-market.
Multiple business lines de-risk the platform and generate revenue before scheduled operations.
Freight built into the plan from launch — not bolted on after the fact.
Alliances across airports, ground handlers, MROs, technology and financial partners.
Phased fleet: regional turboprops, single-aisle jets, then widebodies — matched to network stage.
Institutional reporting, transparency and disciplined capital allocation.
CRM, BI, data room, and integration-ready architecture built for the next decade.
Institutional-grade governance from day one
The frameworks that guide how MIG Airlines is built, capitalized and operated.
Institutional-grade board and executive framework aligned to international standards.
Regular investor reporting, clear risk disclosures, and open communication.
Aviation, financial, data protection and sanctions compliance built into the operating model.
A safety management system and just-culture principles established before scheduled operations.
Enterprise risk framework covering financial, operational, regulatory and reputational risks.
Environmental, social and governance commitments embedded across the platform.
Structured quarterly reporting cadence, clear KPIs and defined disclosure standards.
Profiles coming soon

Profiles coming soon
The executive team is being progressively assembled across commercial, operational, financial and technology functions. Bios will be added as roles are confirmed.
Building a responsible aviation platform
Environmental, social and governance commitments embedded from the start.
Fleet plan centred on new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft with best-in-class per-seat economics.
Operational programs — flight planning, weight, single-engine taxi — designed to reduce emissions from day one.
Progressive SAF adoption pathway to be explored as regional supply matures.
Local sourcing, community programs and support for aviation-adjacent education.
Training pathways for Congolese pilots, engineers, cabin crew and ground staff.
Commitment to gender balance, opportunity and inclusive leadership across the platform.
Where we're headed
MIG Airlines is being built to become one of Central Africa's leading aviation platforms — with the fleet, network, technology and governance to match.
Regional turboprops, narrow-body jets and long-haul widebodies phased in over time.
Rebuilding domestic Congolese connectivity, then Africa, then long-haul international.
Cargo, MRO capabilities, an aviation academy, and partnerships across the value chain.
A capital-disciplined, transparent operator aligned to international investor standards.
Employment, skills, infrastructure and regional integration for the DRC.
A platform designed from day one for international safety and compliance.
